The Potential of Aspirin Cancer Prevention

The death of a loved one recently drove me to repine for not having chosen to go to medical school. But even if I did, I could not have done anything much anyway since there was no stopping this dreaded disease. It is fortunate that scientists have recently realized that aspirin cancer preventing doses might have some value and could prevent heartaches of the type that I just felt for my dad.

The substance taken regularly for pain relief is currently being studied for its preventive abilities regarding cancer cells. The low costs of aspirin and the ease with which one may buy it makes it a fantastic preventive possibility for people's health, then. I wonder if this would have extended my parent's life back then, since the reason he never took on preventive treatment wa that he feared its pain.

Even so, I have to admit that there is little hope even then: aspirin is shown to reduce the chances of cancer, not heal it. The group that took aspirin regularly and in small doses was found to have lower cancer occurrences. For those who are already inflicted, aspirin can slow down metastasis.

According to the researchers, one cancer may react quite variably from another when exposed to the substance. Prevention was more effective in certain cancers, such as colon cancer. The type that my dad suffered from was cancer of the colon.

Researchers have also found that some cancers afflicting the digestive system were particularly weak to the restrictive powers of the drug. Rothwell advised, “In terms of prevention, anyone with a family history would be sensible to take aspirin.” Owing to the nature of drugs and the possibility of adverse reactions, physicians note that people should nonetheless take care in administering aspiring for prevention of cancer.

Just about all medicaments have bad side-effects when their consumption is not regulated. Aspirin in untrammelled dosages has been shown to raise the chances of things such as stroke caused by hemmorhage. The side effects, once you go over that limit, can be deadly.

There are some people in the medical field who are still on the fence about the drug. A few studies in the US indicate, after all, that there was no connection between aspirin consumption and lower cancer possibilities. Given that these scientists employed a once-every-other-day mode of aspirin consumption for the people in their studies, though, they are not being taken very seriously since the people they are rebutting did a once-every-day mode of consumption.

Still, experts question the integrity of the Oxford studies since those were originally conducted to study the effects of aspirin on heart diseases. There are countries where doctors often suggest regular consumption of baby aspirin for those with weak hearts. Many say this does not apply with cancer.

Some of the people in the field opt to take a more sensible view of the findings, saying they have promise and need to be continued for further certainty. For example, one of the heads of the American Cancer Society has spoken out in favor of more research, though not necessarily aspirin consumption. There are a lot of other people who simply talk about it as promising and not yet confirmed.

I am not a doctor and my understanding of medicine is miles behind what these experts and researchers know. All I know is that cancer took away my father and I hope people will find a failsafe cure for this killer disease soon. With further studies being conducted on aspirin cancer might just soon suffer its own demise.
